A 23-Year-Old Maths Teacher Sang Cannonball and a Judge Said It Was Not a Hard Equation

John Adams was 23 and had been teaching maths for only a year when he auditioned for The X Factor. About 15 family members and friends came to cheer him on, and he said he would love to follow his dream of becoming a singer.

He chose Cannonball by Damien Rice. His voice was soft and unusual, and the nerves were easy to see, but the emotion in every line kept the whole room quiet until the final note. 🎶

One judge said he was clearly emotionally connected to the song. Another admitted Cannonball is one of their favourite songs of all time and they hate hearing people sing it, then said John absolutely nailed it and they could listen to a whole album of his voice.

The yeses followed, with one judge joking that a lot of ladies would suddenly become interested in maths. Another said this was not a hard equation and called it the biggest yes of the day. 🔥
