Brian Gilligan, a 32-year-old music and drama teacher from Dublin, came to Britain’s Got Talent in 2019 as the last act of the day. He had once performed in The Commitments in the West End, but a year earlier his brother had died suddenly of a heart attack.
Since then he had struggled to rebuild his confidence, and the birth of his baby boy pushed him to try again. He chose “I’ll Never Love Again”, and his raw, emotional voice carried every bit of his grief. 🎶
The judges were deeply moved. One called his voice phenomenal, and another said every single person in the theatre wanted him to do well, and he did. The vote was four yeses.
It was a brave way to turn loss into music. Brian sang for his brother and for his little son, and gave the audience a moment they will not forget. ❤️
