She Turned Years of Hurt Into One Powerful Performance… Then Came the Gold

For Amanda Mena, this wasn’t just another singing audition. At 15, she was stepping onto the America’s Got Talent stage after years of dealing with bullying and the challenges of moving to a new country without knowing the language. Music and her mother helped her get through those difficult years.

Amanda decided to tell her story through one of Aretha Franklin’s most iconic songs, “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman.”

It was an ambitious choice, but she delivered it with remarkable confidence. Her soulful voice quickly filled the theater, and the audience responded with a standing ovation. Simon Cowell was equally impressed, calling attention to the natural soul in her voice.

Then Mel B stood behind her in the most dramatic way possible. After explaining how moved she was by Amanda’s performance, she slammed the Golden Buzzer.

Golden confetti filled the stage as Amanda’s mother rushed over to celebrate with her.
What began as a story of struggle ended with one unforgettable victory.
