I travel a lot, and I always run into the same problem: I’m too big to physically fit into a normal seat without running into the person seated next to me.
I decided to buy two tickets ahead of time, one for the window and one for the one next to it, so as not to bother anyone.
A mother with a small child suddenly walked up to me, so I buckled up and sat down. Without asking, she settled her toddler into the empty seat next to me.
I calmly said that I had purchased this seat, that it belonged to me, and that I needed it for personal use.
But the woman started to protest strongly.
– “Are you serious? You won’t let a child sit down?
Other “nice” passengers added:
“But it’s a child!”
I gently pressed the call button and explained the situation to the flight attendant. I added both boarding passes and made them visible.
You have two options: get this guy a different seat, or I’ll ask the captain to be called and an official report for interfering with paid seats be filed. This violates transportation laws.
Everything happened so quickly. The attendant called the senior flight crew. After a brief conversation with the captain, the woman and her child were removed from the flight. She had done this before; the previous times she had been lucky.
Finally, as the plane prepared to take off, there was silence by my side. A few even apologized, but most people choose to disregard it.
P.S. I bought two seats because I value other people as much as I cherish myself. not to “give them up” to someone else.
