Logan Gifford is among the bravest people I’ve read about in a long time. His decision to share his inexplicable, painful experience is both important and amazing.
His words have the potential to teach us all valuable lessons and, for those in similar situations, even inspire the bravery to speak up.
I finally dialed the police.
Logan, just 26 years old, has witnessed horrors that no one should ever have to endure. He decides to speak out rather than conceal the past in spite of the pain, sorrow, and betrayal that have defined his life.
Logan could choose to say nothing, but he chooses not to.
Unfortunately, Logan endured years of sexual abuse at the hands of his mother, Doreene Gifford. According to him, everything happened when he was ten to sixteen years old.
Logan’s suffering ended when he revealed his mother’s true character to the police. In 2015, he testified against his own mother, who was sentenced to 8–20 years in prison.
Despite Doreene’s constant insistence that she is innocent, Logan has remained true to himself and shared the unpleasant realities of his childhood.
My younger brother passed away.
His mother allegedly sexually assaulted him, for example, when he was in a bedroom she shared with his father and a pornographic DVD was playing. Additionally, he opened out about his challenging upbringing, revealing the frequent involvement of child protective authorities. Regretfully, his younger brother Liam perished in a pool when he was three years old.
Gifford was then left to help raise his younger siblings as a result of his mother’s horrible behavior. But this terrible situation is going in a surprising direction. Logan now believes that his fifteen-year-old sibling might be his son.
After yet another assault event in late 2008, Gifford believes his brother may have been born. Logan has kept the identify of the young child with cognitive impairments a secret. Children born to incest are more prone to suffer from inherited diseases and disabilities.
Look at what a mess I left behind. Logan told the Las Vegas Review Journal, “I didn’t ask for any of this,” in an emotional interview.
At this point, Logan asks the judge to mandate a paternity test. His attorney, Timothy Treffinger, told the source that Gifford’s mother has denied the claim that he is the father and stated that she is willing to submit to a paternity test.
Logan Gifford expressed his sense of duty to learn more about his younger brother’s real father by saying, “I feel that as though it is my obligation or my duty to (him) to do this and find out who his biological father really is.”
It was his therapist who initially raised the possibility that Logan was the father. Gifford said, “I was seventeen at the time.” I was surprised by that.

Logan now resides with his younger brother, who gets a disability check, after obtaining temporary guardianship. The youngster resided with Logan’s father, Theodore, until January, when they moved in together.
If Logan is determined to be the father, the guardianship will be replaced with custody in the litigation. However, the case will remain under guardianship if he isn’t. Establishing paternity is difficult and there is no clear solution because both brothers share Theodore’s DNA.
Logan expressed how tough this situation is for him as a victim by saying, “As a male survivor, to sit here and say that my brother may be the product of my sexual assault is a very visceral thing to think about.” But he’s here now. You can’t go back and undo anything. He also has a right to a comfortable, innocent standard of living.
Their mother, Doreene Gifford, was released on parole in July but was arrested again in January for violating a parole provision by contacting a victim. A parole violation hearing is planned for April, and she is currently incarcerated at the Florence McClure Women’s Correctional Center.
