People outraged at underwear seemingly depicting Rosa Parks at Met Gala

One of the biggest names in K-Pop, Lisa, from the group Blackpink, went to the 2025 Met Gala. The singer most recently starred in the third season of the HBO series White Lotus.

Lisa, a member of the worldwide pop sensation Blackpink, made her debut at the Met Gala on Monday night. A couture Louis Vuitton ensemble was worn by the singer-actress to represent this year’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”

She did not, however, receive the reaction she had hoped for from her clothing.

She looked “pantless” thanks to her outfit, which included an embroidered black blazer, branded tights, and a lacy bodysuit that ended at her thighs. But rather than her pantless look, Lisa’s outfit’s characteristics were the topic of the town.

A detailed examination of her clothing revealed that the lace pattern on her underwear was a representation of a woman’s face. One of them looked a lot like the late Rosa Parks, a civil rights champion from the United States.

Others were further offended since Lisa had already faced backlash for alleged racist behavior. Less than three months after a compilation of you using the N word became viral, someone commented on X, “Rosa Parks on your underwear is kind of crazy, but maybe that’s just me.”

“Whoever at LV needs to be jailed,” another angry internet user replied, referring to the clothing designer who may have been responsible for this incident.

One person who couldn’t bear her audacity said, “The theme is tailoring black style, so why is she wearing civil rights leaders on her crotch?”

The lace faces were mostly seen below her waist because she covered it with a blazer.

“I was concerned and questioned why Rosa Parks enjoyed such widespread popularity. I am aware that Lisa’s underwear isn’t now covered with Rosa Parks. Who thought this was a good idea? In addition to being incredibly disgusting, how does this relate to the theme?Another angry fan asked.

A video that allegedly showed Lisa, Jennie, and Rosé—two additional members of Blackpink—using a racial slur on stage reappeared weeks before to this occurrence.

The absence of a statement or acknowledgement of the incident increased the ire of the fans.

One popular comment on X read, “Despite using the n-word numerous times and never expressing regret, Lisa doesn’t seem to care as she wears underwear featuring pictures of ROSA PARKS, a civil rights icon who battled against racial injustice.”

Henry Taylor, an American artist, was specifically chosen by Pharrell Williams to create the design, a Louis Vuitton spokesperson informed The Cut. According to the spokesperson, the print featured “portraits of figures who have been a part of the artist’s life.”

The fact that Rosa Parks was the woman in the picture wearing her underpants has not been verified by Lisa’s team or the company.
