The terrible and sinister murder of 10-year-old Sara Sharif incited outrage around the world, and her father, Ufran Sharif, acknowledged that he had brutally murdered his young daughter.
But the story doesn’t end with Sara dying as a result of the “campaign of torture.” The details of the event are very disturbing.
Inmates took matters into their own hands by ambushing the “sadistic” child killer after “word quickly got around about who [Ufran] was” behind bars.
The world was horrified on August 8, 2023, when the story of a bright and loving 10-year-old girl named Sara Sharif made headlines.
According to the BBC, the young girl “was hooded, burned, and beaten during a ‘campaign of torture’ that lasted two years” until her body was found at the family home in Woking, Surrey.
“Whoever sees this note, it’s me Urfan Sharif who killed my daughter by beating,” the authorities said in a confession letter found in Sara’s bunkbed. I’m running away because I’m scared.
He declared that he would “be back before the postmortem” after saying, “I swear to God that my intention was not to kill her.” However, I lost my temper.
It’s particularly shocking because Sara’s father and two other family members departed for Pakistan the day before her body was found.
Following a weeks-long worldwide search for those responsible for her horrific murder, Sara’s uncle, 29-year-old Faisal Malik; father, 42; and stepmother, 30 were all charged.
“I killed her.”
A heating iron burn on her buttock, a puncture wound to her skull, 11 vertebral fractures, injuries to her fingers, shoulder blades, and ribs, and bite marks from other people were among Sara’s nearly 70 injuries, the court said.
Since the arrest, the three have denied any involvement, but Urfan later admitted in court that “she died because of me.”
On December 17, 2024, Batool received a life sentence with a minimum of 33 years in prison, and Sharif received a life sentence with a minimum of 40 years. Their actions during their sentencing were described by Mr. Justice Cavanagh as “a campaign of torture,” adding that “the degree of cruelty involved is almost inconceivable.” Malik received a 16-year prison sentence after being found guilty of causing or allowing the death of a child.
Sara’s birth mother, Olga Domin, gave a statement that was read out in court.
Calling the three suspects “sadists,” she asserted, “but even this word is not enough for you.” I think you are executioners.
“She is now an angel who looks down on us from heaven,” she added to her daughter. She is no longer affected by violence.
The code of the prisoner
Sharif had to face the hard reality of life among seasoned criminals after being imprisoned. Killers and convicts are known to follow an odd code that detests crimes against children.
Inside the prison walls, rumors of Urfan’s crime proliferated, making him a marked man. His reputation as a child killer further cemented his downfall.
Since arriving in HMP Belmarsh in South London, popularly known as Britain’s Guantanamo Bay, “Sharif has tried to keep his head down,” a source told the Sun.
Word soon got out, though, who he was.The other inmates were upset that he was with them because, despite the fact that they are there for heinous crimes, many of them despise anyone who hurt children.
On New Year’s Day, just weeks into his life sentence, Ufran was ambushed by two prisoners who “were sickened by his abuse of Sara” with a jagged tuna can lid.
Urfan was severely mutilated by two other individuals who rushed into his cell. It was prepared, and they used a handmade weapon manufactured out of a tuna tin lid. “He was sliced in the neck and face and is still in healthcare and in a very bad way,” an insider informed the publication after the child killer survived the attack.
He was lucky to survive, but he would always have scars from the attack and would need sutures. The guards tried to keep him safe because it was obvious that he had a target on his back after the case made headlines.
According to the insider, “something like this was always on the cards, and an attack was probably only a matter of time.”Many of them are saying that the honoree could not have been a more deserving individual.
Recent accusations claim that one of Ufran’s attackers is Steve Sansom, a convicted felon serving a life sentence for the 2024 murder and dismemberment of 38-year-old Sarah Mayhew. In 1999, Sansom was also convicted of the murder of Terrence Boyle, a 59-year-old cab driver.
