There are very few people on the earth who can honestly say they know half as much as Dannion Brinkley about what happens to us after we die.
The former US Marine was declared dead for 28 minutes after being struck by lightning in 1975, yet he eventually passed away and fully recovered.
The odds of being struck by lightning in a given year are fewer than one in a million, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. To put it another way, you have to be extremely unlucky for it to happen.
Of course, however, it is not impossible. Theoretically, if someone is in the wrong place at the wrong time during any storm, there is a very slim chance that they could be struck by lightning. Brinkley knows it better than anyone.
When lightning struck on September 17, 1975, it passed through the phone he was using, down a telephone line, and straight into Brinkley’s body. At the moment, the veteran, businessman, and athlete had been holding a phone to his ear.
He said, “It went down my spine and into the side of my head above my ear,” as reported by 8 News Now.

It welded the heel nails of my shoes to the floor. After it threw me into the air, I saw the ceiling, but then I was smashed back down and a ball of fire came through the room, blinding me. I’m burning. I’m on fire. I can’t move.
But this is when the intriguing part begins.
After the terrible incident, Brinkley recalls truly leaving his body and returning to it just about twenty-eight minutes later, after it had been taken to the morgue.
What had happened while he was away? Evidently, things weren’t quite black and white. Since then, he has actually talked about the terrible incident to clarify “what happens when you die.”
Brinkley described feeling as though he was floating with the ambulance as it transported his body to the hospital, while he observed from above his corpse as medical professionals pronounced him officially dead.
He went on to state that his consciousness encountered a spiritual being composed of light in a “Crystal City” after passing through what he described as a tunnel.
Brinkley stated that he saw a “360 degree panorama” reconstruction of his entire life in a YouTube interview with T&H – Afterlife.
“You watch it from a second person point of view,” he remarked.
“In the life you just reviewed, how did God and you change things?”
Of course, Brinkley has his critics, but he has stuck to his account to this day. In addition, he has actually had two more near-death experiences to bolster his beliefs.
During open heart surgery in 1989, Brinkley recalled being “reunited with his angelic instructors.” Additionally, he asserted that he had acquired the ability to “help the dying and the desperate by using his new psychic and spiritual gifts.”
He then underwent brain surgery and had another near-death experience.
“When you realize you’re a spiritual being and you don’t die, you’re not going to hell, and that’s enough to inspire you to change,” he explained, as reported by 8 News Now.
