I can’t even begin to imagine how much pressure most celebrities must live under all their lives.
Receiving feedback on one’s work is normal and occasionally even acceptable. It goes without saying that no artist will ever create something that is universally loved, just as performers sometimes have bad nights.
I think we can all agree that, even if it’s common for fans to express such opinions, we should be protected from trolling and personal insults on the internet in this day and age.
The internet has done a great job of serving as a megaphone in a town square that can hold millions of people, but we aren’t, regrettably. Celebrities now have to cope with a barrage of comments if they decide to let anyone access to their social media accounts, on top of the potential for running into angry fans in their regular lives.
Halle Berry’s stunning nude self-portrait, which she shared over the weekend, served as a stark reminder of just how vicious the internet can be.
Let’s just say that Halle Berry went viral on the internet on Saturday after posting a photo of herself drinking a glass of wine while standing on a balcony wearing—wait for it—nothing.
“I do what I wanna do,” the 56-year-old Oscar-winning actress said as the photo’s description.
Naturally, there were some harsh comments as well, even though a substantial percentage of the comments were positive (people tended to support Berry).
“Imagine being in your 50s and still posting nudes for attention during menopause when you should be spending time with your grandchildren,” one reader remarked in response to Berry’s nude shot. Dignified aging is no longer an option.
Now, one might think that since Berry has been a well-known celebrity for a long time, she will just disregard her detractors and treat them with the disdain they deserve.
However, the Catwoman star isn’t made of such fabric.
No, her followers found the Hollywood actress’s humorous answer to be hilarious.
“Did you guys know the heart of a shrimp is located in its head?” the “Monster’s Ball” actress said in her own retweet.
“As someone your age, keep living your best life and sharing whatever the hell you want when you want,” one Twitter user commented.
Another user remarked, “Can you imagine being upset because a gorgeous woman is proud of her body? That couldn’t be me.”
Actress Audra McDonald wrote, “Your clapback won the internet today.”

Personally, I enjoy it when narrow-minded potential bullies are put in their rightful place.
