Grace VanderWaal’s Initial AGT Assessment
When Judge Simon Cowell questioned Grace about her chances of winning, she answered, “Miracles can happen, so possibly.”

“It’s about me,” was her response to Simon when he inquired about the song she would be performing. She said that most of her school friends “don’t really know I sing.”
Her friends and AGT viewers were the first to recognize her unusual voice and style of passionate composition.
Grace enthralled the crowd with her genuine and moving performance of “I Don’t Know My Name,” a song about embracing one’s uniqueness, accompanied by a ukulele.
I’m not even sure what my name is. Grace sung, “I don’t play by the rules of the game.””You are correct when you say that I’m trying,”
Which choices were made by the judges?
The audience, which had been standing, became quiet, chairs were filled, and Grace prepared herself to hear the four judges’ assessment of her audition.
Howie Mandel voiced his ideas without holding back.
He said, “This is a show about surprises.””You described yourself as a miracle, and in my view, you are a stunning walking miracle.”
Howie went on, quoting a song line that said, “You’re original.”Since everyone will know your name, I believe it is both right and wrong for someone to not know it. They ought to be familiar with your name by now.
Grace was then brought to the stage for her live performances when he pressed the Golden Buzzer. Grace burst into tears of joy, and Howie ran to embrace her.”You are incredible,” he said to her.
Grace’s ability to draw song ideas from her experiences revealed to Simon that she reminded him of a pop singer.”Grace, you already know what’s in store for you,” he said.”You could be the next Taylor Swift,” I said.
What a sweet young lady. To the other judges, Simon said, “What a wonderful personality.”
Amazing, commented Heidi Klum.”That is truly amazing.”
“She’s unique,” Mel B remarked.
“Do you believe that you are now a star?”Howie asked Simon a question.
Simon declared, “I think we’ve got a star,” voicing his “annoyance” at not being featured in the Golden Buzzer press release.
