Boy, 7, Found Dead After..

Hurricane Helene has claimed the lives of at least 135 people, with the Carolinas bearing the brunt of the damage. Among the dead were 7-year-old Micah Drye and his grandparents from Asheville, North Carolina. They sought shelter on a rooftop before the floodwaters swept them away. Megan Drye, Micah’s mother, survived the crash, but she tragically lost her parents and son.

Megan’s sister, Jessica Drye Turner, shared the heartbreaking story on the internet, quoting Micah’s final words, “Jesus! Please help me.She expressed her loss and faith, saying, “New grief and strong faith.” The latest slogan Micah’s body was later found a quarter of a mile from where Megan had been rescued. When Megan lost everything, her other sister Heather Kephart started a GoFundMe page to support her. The page has a final photo of Micah smiling in a Jurassic World T-shirt that his grandmother took before the accident. As communities try to recover, the Drye family’s losses are only one of many caused by the catastrophe. The recovery process will depend heavily on families’ capacity to recover from such devastation. Theirs is not an exception.
