Without testosterone, Thomas became pregnant four more times in five years, one of which was an ectopic pregnancy. He and his former wife Nancy raised Susan and his children Jensen and Austin, presenting themselves as a traditional family with high moral standards.
Thomas Beatie had a major TV debut in April 2008 when he made an exclusive, hour-long appearance on the Oprah Winfrey Show. He openly expressed his support for the right to procreate regardless of his gender identity as a guy in front of a global audience.
Beatie emphasized in the interview that having children is a universal human desire, irrespective of a person’s gender. As a human, I am entitled to have my own biological child.

When Thomas married Amber in 2016, he began a new chapter in his life. Although Thomas and Amber had been dating since 2012, Nancy’s tumultuous divorce forced them to put off their wedding.
The couple moved to Oregon with their mixed family, which included Austin, Jensen, Susan, and Amber’s grandchild Lily.
Thomas discussed their hectic home life in an interview with Daily Mail, saying, “With four kids ages three, five, six, and seven, it can get pretty loud, but we love it.”

Looking back, Thomas, who is now in his 50s, stated, “when my story came out, there was hardly a single person in the public eye as a transgender man—most people had never heard of it.”
