The 82-year-old actor informed his fans that he has been diagnosed with cancer. He is best known for his role as businessman Victor Newman on The Young and the Restless.
He was recovering from knee replacement surgery when the devastating news arrived.
Braeden, a well-known actor from daytime television, revealed in a 13-minute Facebook Live session on Friday that he was experiencing prostate issues, which subsequently turned out to be cancer. He said, “While I was recovering from the knee surgery, I started having problems with my prostate.” I’m sorry to be so blunt, but I think this could be helpful to some older guys who might or might not listen. It will dawn on them.
Doctors were able to remove the cancer after a successful UroLift operation, which is a treatment option for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). The German-born actor is presently undergoing a six-week course of immunotherapy.
“I’m feeling under the weather, but not really much,” he remarked. I’ve discovered that it’s best to listen to my body and not push myself too hard. I’ll get it. And I’ll be at my best again shortly.
“I’ll lick this,” declared Braeden. “This bastard won’t get me; I’m going to win it.”
Braeden said that his nearly 40-year run on The Young and the Restless is what keeps him going. That’s where I am right now, he said. “I want to act to entertain others. Thank you for your assistance. Consequently, provide your support to any family member who goes through this. It could be successful. These days, cancer therapy has advanced to the point where it is possible to survive the disease.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Braeden disclosed that he finds fulfillment in entertaining people and that performing helps him forget about his health issues.
Though his role in the soap opera was initially supposed to be that of a guest star for eight or twelve weeks, he has evolved into the lead male character.
