On First Take, Michael Jordan paid tribute to the late great basketball player Jerry West.
It was revealed that the man on the NBA logo, who was 86 years old, passed away yesterday while being surrounded by his spouse.
Admiration for West, who triumphed both inside and beyond the court, has been expressed by many.
Furthermore, as First Take noted on X, Jordan, 61, texted Stephen A. Smith in real time to offer his own views.

Smith said, “I am so deeply saddened by the news of Jerry’s death,” in lieu of MJ.
Like my older brother, he was a great teacher and friend.
“I cherished his knowledge and our friendship.”
“I really should have been on his team, but as I got to know him more, I realized that I always wanted to play against him.”
“I appreciated his basketball insights, and our playing styles were a lot alike.”
“We shall miss him forever,” My thoughts and prayers are with his kid and his wife, Karen. Peace be with you, Logo.
One of the fans said, “Wow, that’s really nice of MJ,” on a video of the tribute.

“Jerry West was the best general manager of all time.” The greatest general manager ever, without a doubt. “Rest in peace, Jerry ‘The Logo’ West,” another person uttered.
“We will miss him,” wrote someone else.
Nobody else but Jerry West is there! “Rest in peace,” said one more individual.
The 56-year-old Smith also remembered a time when he and West initially crossed paths.
While watching the analyst’s show, West heard Smith remark that Jordan should take his place as the NBA’s logo.
Surprisingly, West called the ESPN personality and confirmed that he agreed.
Smith said, “He called because he thought I would brush it off.”
And he was responding to her with, “No way!” I think Michael Jordan is the best of all time. I think it’s fair for him.

Not only is West one of the best players in NBA history, but he also helped the Los Angeles Lakers become the dominant team in the 1980s.
with the previous few months, he had served as a consultant with the Los Angeles Clippers.
In 2010 and 2019, the Lakers gave West a monument and the Presidential Medal of Freedom, respectively.
