A couple’s dinner cruise on a boat took an incredibly unexpected turn when they saw a dog in distress in the sea, inspiring the crew to carry out an incredible rescue.
Terry Johns was in charge of a dinner cruise on the Sanibel Harbor Princess between Fort Myers Beach and Lighthouse Beach in Florida.
However, the cruise took an unexpected turn when a couple saw a dog in the water, struggling to stay afloat, according to WINK News.

“I looked out, and I saw something in the water,” Captain Johns claimed to WINK. “And then, all of a sudden, I heard dogs, dogs, dogs.”
The captain and his crew immediately took action to save the dog. It was unclear if the animal had fallen from a boat or had been pulled in by the strong currents.
People claims that co-captain Kurt Echols directed the yacht in the direction of the dog, allowing the crew to save it at the swim platform.
The crew and passengers then fed and watered the dog, expressed gratitude for her survival, and described her as “very friendly.”
The dog was taken to the coast with the intention of bringing her and her family back together. But her microchip read nothing. Thankfully, though, her owners were notified after the incident made headlines.
Ben and Kathleen Baker’s dog, Ellie, went missing during a boat excursion. They searched the entire river for her, but they were unable to locate her.
They said, “I just assumed that was it,” inconsolable. “I’m 72 years old, and I have probably cried more in the last 18 hours,” Ben stated to WINK News.
But thanks to this boat crew, Ellie was found, saved, and reunited with her family.
What a wonder! Everyone aboard this yacht has our sincere gratitude for helping this overboard pooch make a safe return home!
