There are billions of people on the earth, and most of them lead lives that are so dissimilar from our own that it is hard to conceive. This story is one of them. It narrates the tale of a man who had a very distinct existence.

Most people, regardless of their nationality, like taking showers or baths.
The frequency of showering differs from person to person, yet the idea that one should shower frequently does not change.
However, Amou Haji thought otherwise. He decided to go 67 years without taking a shower. The dead Persian man also said that he had good motives for doing it.
He lived alone in Iran and had not taken a bath in over 60 years. His favorite food was roadkill, and there were rumors that he had even ingested animal excrement through a conduit.
He was reported to be from the Iranian town of Dez Gah and to have been born in 1928. The folks called him “old man” or “Amou Haji” because no one knew his real name.
There is a story about him that says he became a recluse after losing his love.
It was said that his house, which was on the outside of the town, was constructed out of cinder blocks. No one seemed to be bothered by his presence.
He burned his hair and beard because he thought they were getting too long. That was the only “hygiene” he was concerned about. His hair and skin were both gray.
Despite not always keeping himself clean, he lived to be 94 years old and seemed to be in good health throughout his life.
The old man was not afraid of drinking water, in contrast to what many others thought. He was said to consume up to five liters of water every day from an unhygienic tin can.
When it came to eating, he liked to discover food on the ground. He would always prefer to find his own fresh food, even if it was supplied to him. He even said he liked roadkill more and that porcupines were his favorite animal. He reportedly ate roadkill flesh that looked old or rotten even though it was still whole.
He also vaped animal waste using a pipe. It was also said that he liked to smoke cigarettes; in fact, he was once seen puffing on several at once.
He was said to be in good health despite eating poorly and not washing his hands frequently. In actuality, he died at the age of ninety-four, shortly after he was convinced to take a bath by his neighbors.
Before he passed away, the old man was examined by Dr. Gholamreza Molavi of the School of Public Health at Tehran University of Medical Sciences. They were shocked to hear he was in superb health considering his lifestyle.
Conversely, he became infected with trichinosis, a parasite condition spread through food. This was not surprising, since he liked to eat dead animals that he found on the side of the road. In any case, it had little effect on his health.
