A common desire among new parents is to take photos of their babies and share them online.
Patricia Williams felt this way as well. She took a cute photo of her son. But when she tried to share his photos, she received a surprising blow.
Find out more by reading on.In 2012, Patricia gave birth to her son Redd.

Despite having white hair from birth, the child’s mother didn’t see any other features in him until he was two months old.
When her husband Dale decided to investigate why the baby’s eyes were moving, he was shocked to learn that the movement was a frequent sign of albinism. Patricia was dubious because she had never even heard of the child’s name, but the small youngster had symptoms of albinism, including tracking eyes, white hair, and pale skin.
The couple’s next move was to see an optician and a geneticist in order to obtain a formal diagnosis. After investigation, it was found that Redd had Oculocutaneous Albinism Type 1 (OCA1), a disorder that affects 1 in 17,000 individuals worldwide.
When Redd was born, Patricia remembers the excitement that swept through the medical staff; everyone was eager to meet the baby with the blue eyes and white hair. Patricia did not bat an eye now because she, her husband, and her firstborn son, Gage, were all fair-haired.

She remembered noticing that a month after they had brought him home, Redd’s hair was so extremely white that it sparkled in the son.
Despite her attempts to avert her stare, he would not take his eyes off her. He also had extraordinarily blue eyes that, in certain lights, glowed scarlet.
Patricia was convinced her son would outgrow these features, but it wasn’t until her second son was born that she realized her son’s condition was permanent.
Rockwell, who was born in February 2018, was born with the same illness as his older sibling. Social media users grabbed the newborn boy’s photos and used them to create insulting memes.Because of his peculiar appearance, Redd has also been the target of bullying at school.
That’s why his bigger brother Gage started looking out for him. However, Rockwell’s parents were prepared for everything since they were aware of his albinism at the time of his birth. However, they were unaware that images of their young son would go viral.
Dale and Patricia made the decision to ignore the whole thing after recognizing that they would never be able to convince everyone who had shared the photo to take it down.
They made the decision to assume the role of advocates in order to end bullying of children with disabilities on the basis of their differences. When specialists discovered that Redd was albino, Patricia was not pleased.
She was concerned about how their family dynamics would change and how the child would be handled in life if they had a child that burnt easily and went blind eventually.
She explained why Rockwell was the center of attention. The mom said, “It’s very uncommon to see a baby with white hair, and Rockwell’s hair sticks straight up, so it’s very noticeable.”

Her son’s pictures went viral and she attracted a large following. She quickly found out that not many people knew about albinism when she began to get inquiries concerning her son’s appearance.
She came to the conclusion that most people’s understanding of albinism came from obscure films with scant or nonexistent representation. She believed she had a special opportunity to raise awareness of albinism as a result.
Redd transferred from a special school for blind children to a public school after having eye surgery to treat his strabismus. Redd profited greatly from the treatment, therefore the family made a wise choice in choosing it.
They opted against it because they thought Redd would stick out and draw more attention if he wore an eye patch. Redd’s friends noticed his “differences” less and less as he grew older.

Redd was just like any other kid, with the exception that he didn’t require any special equipment to play outside—all he needed was a hat, some dark sunglasses, and sunscreen. His younger brother Rockwell was successful also, just like Redd.
Patricia posted a video of Rockwell during his school’s “Western Day” on April 28, 2023. This time, the young child received an abundance of love and support on social media. People described the young toddler as “cute” and “adorable.”
According to Patricia, there is a widespread misperception that people with albinism have red eyes. She added that because their eyes are colorless, they typically have vivid blue eyes.
The lads are having an amazing time and are doing fantastic!
