Last Tuesday, well-known musician Justin Timberlake found himself in a very surprising situation. The 43-year-old singer of the hit song “Selfish” was arrested on suspicion of DUI after hanging out with friends at the American Hotel in Sag Harbor.
According to a source, Justin was extremely frightened following his detention. He was obviously disturbed and fidgety during his incarceration night. “He was freaking out and stayed up all night when he was in custody,” the person revealed. “He insists that he only had one drink and that it wasn’t a wild night out.”
Justin’s attorney has not yet commented on the incident. However, Justin told the arresting officer, “I followed my friends home and I had one martini,” according to his arrest report, which PEOPLE was able to obtain.
Despite this unfortunate event, it looks like Justin plans to continue his tour as scheduled. “For him, it’s business as usual,” the insider said. “The tour is running according to plan.”
This incident occurred during Timberlake’s vacation from the Forget Tomorrow World Tour. His next announced appearances are June 21 and 22 in Chicago and June 25 and 26 in New York City. December is the tour’s finish date.
Justin was fined for running a stop sign, staying in his lane, and one count of driving under the influence after leaving the American Hotel. Justin’s bloodshot and fuzzy eyes were also mentioned in the arrest report.
A second insider told PEOPLE that Justin was just “hanging out with friends” that night. However, things became complex when he refused to take a chemical test again, and he ended up staying the night at the Sag Harbor Police Headquarters. He was set free the following morning.
Justin’s court date is scheduled for July 26, coinciding with his tour stop at the Tauron Arena in Kraków, Poland.
