Last month, tragedy befell the Korean actress Park Soo Ryun, who passed away a few hours before a performance. Ryun was on Jeju Island, the largest Korean island, on June 13, 2023. She fell down a set of steps unintentionally while her route to her performance.
You undoubtedly already know how frightening and unpleasant it can be to slip on stairs, but in Ryun’s case, it was fatal. The 29-year-old star was taken to a nearby hospital, where emergency personnel attempted to resuscitate her, but their efforts were unsuccessful. Despite the fact that her heart was still beating, doctors declared her legally and brain dead.
Ryun’s family had to make the painful choice to remove her from life support. Since her heart was still pumping, they chose to give her organs instead. As Ryun’s mother put it, “There has to be someone in dire need of organs. We will be able to live with the knowledge that her heart has found a new home and is still beating as her parents.
Ryun’s most well-known performance was in the Disney+ K-drama series “Snowdrop” as a supporting actress. She is not the only cast member to pass away at a young age. Kim Mi-soo, her costar, passed away in January 2022 at the age of 29. It is unknown what caused her death.
Fans of Ryun have taken to her social media posts to express their sorrow over her passing. “Rest in peace,” says one comment. You will be missed.
