Walker settled himself down on Amy’s porch, lounging on her patio furniture and not wanting to go. Thus, she took care of the puppy and set out to find him a home.
Unexpected means can occasionally bring animals into our lives. In search of affection and a place to call home, many people have come across stray dogs or cats and have asked for assistance.
For one woman, this was the case when she saw a puppy settling in on her doorstep and decided to find him a wonderful new home.
Early one morning, Amy Haden received an unexpected surprise when her daughter informed her that their back porch was home to a dog. Since the family owns two dogs, Amy didn’t initially give this any thought.
She quickly found out, though, that this was not the dog she had ever seen before, as it was contentedly settled upon her patio chairs.
Amy recalled finding the dog waiting on a chair and said, “It’s like he had taken up residence,” to Good Morning America. “On the cushions, he completely settled in and never got off.”
The dog was obviously content where he was because the family discovered him staying put every day and not wanting to relocate.
Amy realized the puppy needed some assistance, so she started taking care of him and looking for his family by posting on Facebook and contacting the locals.
Although he was spotted by other neighbors in the town, no one claimed him, and he lacked a microchip. “I have no idea what his name was, where he’d been, or where he came from,” Amy said.
Over the following few months, Amy’s family continued to provide for the puppy, who they named Walker (Amy claimed she allowed TikTok to do so).
Still, they came to the realization that they weren’t Walker’s “forever family.” Amy didn’t get along with the newcomer because she already had two dogs of her own. Rather, she set out to find Walker a permanent residence.
Fortunately, Walker’s ideal new owner—a “little old lady” who had been waiting impatiently for a new dog—was quickly discovered by Amy.
Amy said to GMA, “She was really sweet.” She informed us that we were the answer to her prayers because she had been hoping for a puppy just like him.
It’s clear that this adorable dog chose the ideal porch to curl up on. Walker is finally able to live in a loving home of his own because of this generous family.
