All of us will eventually have to face difficulty. Many people heal completely, but some still need a lot of time.
Riona Kelly, a mother of four who is 37 years old, went through not one, but two terrible things in 2015. The one hurt her physically, while the second tormented her mentally.
Riona suffered a stroke and was left paralyzed from the waist down; nevertheless, that heartbreaking realization that she would never walk again wasn’t what ultimately broke her.

The mother of four and educator had to face her toughest challenge after learning that she would never walk again from physicians.
In 2017, Riona revealed to The Mirror that she had “suffered a car accident 18 months prior,” which may have contributed to her spinal problems.
The mother eventually went back to work as a result of her determination to change her life and be present for her kids.
The man who was meant to be there for her in her hour of need disappointed her and left her. After just five days in the hospital, her 14-year-old spouse filed for divorce.
As she lay in her hospital bed, Riona was gripped with grief and yearned to give up. How would she take care of her four children if she couldn’t even take care of herself?
“My friend Sarah took over as my next of kin after my husband abandoned me in the hospital, and she and the kids helped me through my rehabilitation. Looking back, I was unhappy in my marriage, but we had established a life together and were responsible for other people, Riona admitted to The Mirror.
Richard, Riona’s ex-husband, claimed he desired a divorce the day before she suffered a stroke and was rendered paraplegic from the neck down.
Riona’s recuperation took a while, despite the doctors’ optimism that she would eventually regain some use of her legs.
She came close to giving up numerous times, but she persisted.
“I felt like everyone was staring at me the first time I went out in a wheelchair; I loathed it and hated myself. I no longer wanted to live, and if someone had given me the option, I would have taken my own life.
During Riona’s arduous recovery process, which included hundreds of hours of physiotherapy, Keith Mason, a former rugby league player and athlete, served as her personal trainer.
Instantly clicking, they began spending a lot of time together. Riona and Keith grew close as a result of Keith’s many inquiries for her well-being.
After reaching her lowest point, Riona started dating and ultimately fell in love with one of her therapists. Keith was a favorite of her kids as well, and when she accepted him into the family, everyone was happier.
Before being discharged, Riona was in the hospital for four months.
She still requires a wheelchair for long distances, but with Keith’s help and plenty of physical treatment, she was able to regain some mobility in her legs.
Following her stroke, Riona has completed several marathons with Keith and her wheelchair.
Riona currently uses a special artificial intelligence frame she created for her legs, but she is still able to walk normally.
Through social media updates on her rehabilitation, Keith Mason and Riona Kelly inspired millions of people throughout the COVID lockdowns.
The mother serves as motivation to persevere through difficult times. Regarding her and Keith, the physicians were wrong.
Riona’s bionic legs, the first ever made and with AI, were created by inventors, innovation, and visionaries, thank God for them, Keith wrote on Twitter in 2022 while sharing a video of the couple: “The thought of us walking hand in hand around the city of York for hours was inconceivable just a few months ago,
Unfortunately, it seems as though Mason and Riona’s relationship has worsened.
Mason hasn’t added any images of Riona as of 2023, but he hasn’t either deleted any. Riona’s previously active social media profiles appear to have been erased, nevertheless.
We ask for their health and the ability to proceed to more rewarding opportunities abroad. We’re grateful to have been a part of their amazing journey together.
