The Academy Award, the most coveted award in film, has been won twice by the 87-year-old Los Angeles native, in 1980 and 1989. But who is this famous person who was recently spotted in New York looking almost unrecognizable? Of course it’s Dustin Hoffman!
The famous actor arrived sporting a large beard, sunglasses, a baseball cap, black pants, white sneakers, and a loose-fitting blue button-up shirt, as if attempting to blend in. His wife, Lisa Hoffman, whom he married in 1980, did not accompany him on this journey. Dustin and Lisa have four children together: Ali, Maxwell, Rebecca, and Jacob. The couple exchanged vows in 1980 after a long-standing connection that began through their families.
It’s interesting to remember that Dustin was 27 and Lisa was 10 when they first met at a family barbecue. The two families were close since Dustin’s mother was friends with Lisa’s grandmother. During that get-together, the Tootsie actor captivated Lisa and her younger brother with his humor and piano skills, even getting Lisa to dance.
Years later, when Lisa was 22 and Dustin was 38, having just split from his first wife, Anne Byrne, they reconnected at her grandfather’s funeral. They embarked on their first date shortly after, and the two have been in a romantic relationship ever since.
Lisa often remembers their lengthy marriage with nostalgia. In an interview with Closer, she stated, “They say that one year in Hollywood feels like seven years anywhere else—so multiply that by seven.” She continued by saying that after dating for over 40 years, they are “more in love than ever” and that their bond has only grown stronger. Prior to his marriage to Lisa, Dustin was married to Anne Byrne from 1969 to 1980. Jenna, who is 53, and Karina, who is 57, are the couple’s two daughters.
“My grandmother reminded me that I had told her, ‘I hope he waits for me because I want to marry him,’ after we started dating.” Lisa thought back to her first encounter with Dustin. And, as fate would have it, that is exactly what took place. Lisa attributes their ongoing love to their hard work and dedication, saying, “I knew when I married Dasti that my life would involve constant travel, and we’ve worked hard to make it work.”
