When three veterans entered the stage to sing together, the 2019 Country Music Association Awards got off to a spectacular start. The night began with a performance of “Those Memories Of You” by voice coach Reba McEntire, Sunday Night Football star Carrie Underwood, and country music icon Dolly Parton. Tanya Tucke, Jennifer Nettles, and Martina McBride were among the other “women of country” who joined them for a medley of tunes.

Before they started performing, the three of them gave a brief introduction of themselves and the Performer of the Year nominees, who included Keith Urban, who looked gorgeous sitting with his wife, actress Nicole Kidman. Jokes about replacing Underwood, who co-presented the awards with Brad Paisley annually from 2008 to 2018, are being made by McEntire and Parton.Known as the “Queenston Trio,” Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt, and Emmylou Harris made history in 1987 when they recorded and released a joint album titled Trio.

According to American Songwriter, the song “Those Memories Of You,” written by Alan O’Bryant and originally performed by Bill Monroe, was included on that album. Since then, a number of performers have covered the song, making it a cover in and of itself. It’s a straightforward song about being haunted by recollections of a past lover.
