Giving birth is one of the most amazing experiences a parent can have.
The significance of welcoming a living, breathing being into the world you have created inside of yourself cannot be overstated. Naturally, procreating is a chore that all animals, in one form or another, must accomplish; humans are not the only ones who must perform it.
Evolution has produced a wide variety of ways for our animal friends to give birth to children. For instance, most of us have seen dogs and cats on television or in person, so we are familiar with them. With creatures like tigers, though, it’s a whole different thing.
Fortunately, a video that surfaced online lately shows an incredibly huge tiger giving birth to two puppies. Everyone was able to see an incredible moment as the video went popular on the internet.
At the time of the delivery, the mother was being cared for by zookeepers at an Australian zoo. Kaitlyn, a Sumatran tiger, gives birth to two male pups in a video.
Naturally, in situations such as these, the mother’s survival comes first, and any potential complications during delivery are meticulously watched. The zoo’s employees were keeping a tight eye on this matter to ensure that everything happened as planned.
As you can see, shortly after Kaitlyn gives birth to her first cub, a thin layer of film is placed over the child’s body. In the moments that follow delivery, tiger moms will then lick the film off to aid in the birthing process and make the baby’s exit from the mother’s womb easier.
Her work was not done even after Kaitlyn fell on her side from exhaustion. Another child was on the way, but this one proved to be much easier to raise.
Soon after birth, the second cub was breathing normally and was even kicking his legs before emerging fully from the womb.
Anyway, the arrival of two young, healthy kittens marked a major breakthrough in the attempts to protect these tigers through conservation.
With about 400–600 Sumatran tigers thought to live in the wild, Kaitlyn and the other tigers are considered highly endangered. It might not seem like much, but two more is better since those two will hopefully go on to breed and have their own children.
It is vitally important that future conservation efforts for animals like Kaitlyn!
