Children performing, singing, dancing, or showing other talents are all fascinating to watch in school talent performances. Even though it’s true that each competitor deserves praise for going out on stage and giving it their all in front of their peers, every now and then a performance will emerge that really strikes the target and displays creativity that goes beyond the competitors’ age group.
Four Texas fifth graders from New Braunfels Christian Academy performed this piece at the 2017 Elementary Talent Show. To ensure that their performance remained a mystery the entire time, the students covered themselves with a black cloth at the start. The boys’ infant clothing, complete with little prosthetic legs they could move around with their arms, were exposed when the fabric was ripped away. The audience burst out laughing right away, and that wasn’t even the beginning.
What followed thrilled the crowd even more: the boys changed into their suits and danced witty and creatively to several popular songs. The guys were enthusiastically dancing and miming to Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off,” which was the opening song. Carl Douglas’s “Kung Fu Fighting,” in which four dancers in suits demonstrated their kung fu talents to screams and acclaim, was the popular favorite.
