Casey first came into the public eye in 2018 when he appeared on the TLC show Family By the Ton, weighing an astonishing 845 pounds. At 40 years old, he was living with his father, out of work, and spending most of his time playing video games and overeating.
His health had declined so badly that everyday tasks became nearly impossible. He couldn’t even use a normal bathroom anymore and had to wash himself in a large outdoor trough. After being asked to leave his mother’s home because he couldn’t keep a job, Casey realized he had reached his lowest point. His weight, isolation, and lifestyle made it clear that something had to change.
That turning point came when he underwent weight-loss surgery, a vertical sleeve gastrectomy. After the procedure, he quickly lost his first 70 pounds, but that was only the beginning. By completely changing his habits, diet, and daily routine, he kept going — eventually losing around 600 pounds in total.
By 2023, his weight had dropped to about 245 pounds. In an emotional update on the Truly series Brand New Me, Casey spoke openly about how the journey changed him not only physically, but mentally as well. His story became an inspiration to many people who thought real change was impossible.
His journey didn’t end there, though. After losing so much weight, he faced a new challenge he hadn’t expected. The dramatic transformation left him with a large amount of excess skin, making him look older than he felt. It was difficult to see, but he refused to give up after coming so far.
Instead, he set a new goal — surgery to remove the extra skin and fully step into his new life.
