That morning, I observed something strange in our yard. At first, its strange design and excessive stillness gave the impression that it was just a toy.
I even stepped closer to have a better look. However, that “toy” suddenly began to move slowly.
My heart nearly stopped because I was so scared.I quickly recorded a quick video and ran away without giving it much thought. Once I was safe, I decided to find out what it was. I was horrified when I posted the video online and learned the truth. The fact that nothing occurred to me merely makes me very happy.
They identified it as a Gaboon viper.
Since things might have gone quite differently if I had stayed or tried to touch it, I really thanked God for allowing me to depart so quickly.
What is a Gaboon viper?
The Gaboon viper (Bitis gabonica) is one of Africa’s most poisonous snakes and the heaviest venomous snake in the world.
Because of its incredible camouflage, which makes it nearly undetectable, it may blend in well with fallen leaves.
Unsettling information
reaching a maximum length of two meters
Weight: at least eight kilograms
The longest snake feature, measuring up to 5 cm, is the fang.
Venom is extremely powerful; it causes coagulation and destroys tissue.
Its behavior is usually calm and non-aggressive, but if someone steps on it or disturbs it, it strikes immediately.
The prey are small mammals and birds, and sometimes a hedgehog or small antelope is swallowed whole.
People are rarely attacked by Gaboon vipers; instead, they are typically intimidated by their frightening weapons. Without antivenom, however, the chances of life are extremely slim.
So, yes. I mean it when I say that morning might have been my last.
