A young man and his friends bet that he would marry the local oligarch’s overweight daughter; but, on the wedding day, the bride did something very shocking.
Each visitor froze, a drink dropped, and the silence was broken by the sound of glass breaking. No one was aware of the situation or the reason behind the bride’s behavior.The bridegroom could hardly stand. He was not given the opportunity to communicate his desires.
When the groom’s friends, who had staked the bet with him, suddenly stopped laughing, the guests gaped at the bride in disbelief.
He was young, good-looking, rich, and quite confident. In high society, he went by Alex and was popular with the elite. He came from an empire of builders.
One evening, while enjoying a costly glass of whiskey, one of his friends casually mentioned Milena, the daughter of a local oligarch.
“Have you heard? That man’s daughter exists. To put it lightly, quite plump,” one friend smiled. “Who has the courage?”
“I do,” Alex said calmly.
“Are you serious?” Everyone burst out laughing.
“Let’s make a bet,” he said, taking a sip. Please, three months. In addition to helping her fall in love with me, I’ll pop the question. The answer will be yes from her as well.
The laughter died down and was replaced by amazement.

The bet was made.
Milena was not beautiful according to magazine standards. Despite her lack of a “perfect” body, she was kind, honest, and sensitive.
With flowers, walks, and encouraging words, Alex started courting her. He portrayed the enamored man so well that he almost believed it to be true.
Milena thrived, convinced that she had finally found someone who loved her for who she truly was.
His proposal caused tears of joy to rise up in her eyes. As the planning began, the community was ablaze with rumors about this unexpected wedding.
In the crowded church, there was silence. Everyone was present, including significant others, work associates, and family friends. Alex confidently stood at the altar. He took Milena’s hand and uttered:
“Milena, you are everything to me. I promise to always love you, to cherish every smile, and to support you through both good and terrible times.
But then she looked up. Her eyes were watering, but she spoke steadily:
“I don’t.”
The guests looked at each other in confusion. But Milena continued:
When I initially met you, I thought I had found someone who could see past my appearance. I thought you liked me for who I am because you saw my spirit.
The room became chilly. When a glass fell, there was a loud resonance of glass breaking.
“I now know the truth. And I know it was all a game and a bet.
The visitors grew uncomfortable. Everyone’s eyes were on Alex.
“I know you placed a wager with your friends,” she continued bluntly. “That you wanted to get my father’s wealth by wooing me and bringing me to the altar.”
Gradually, Milena’s father, who was seated in the front row, stood up. Three men in dark suits, his bodyguards, stood up behind him.
“Alex,” he said calmly, “I think you know the way out. My men will accompany you.
With poise, the bodyguards escorted the groom out of the church. The visitors couldn’t talk.
Milena stood at the altar with tears in her eyes and her head held high. She turned to the audience:
“Today, I would have tied the knot. I became the lady who made her own choices instead.
