An eerie photograph shows a contented family just before they are murdered in a helicopter accident.
Siemens Mobility senior executive Agustin Escobar, his wife, and their three children were killed in the horrifying helicopter crash in the Hudson River in New York on Thursday, April 10.
The family reportedly boarded a tour flight after arriving from Barcelona, Spain, earlier that day. Tragic events followed shortly after.
According to witnesses, the Bell 206 seemed to lose its rotors before crashing into the water close to Manhattan’s Pier 40. The FDNY reports that the collision occurred at around 3:15 PM in New Jersey, close to the Hoboken border.

The event also claimed the life of the pilot, whose identity has not been disclosed.

The New York Helicopter Tours website features heartbreaking images of Escobar, his wife, Merce Camprubi Montal, and their three children grinning in front of the aircraft. Another photo shows them buckled up in their seats just prior to the event.
According to officials, the chopper nosedived into the river after breaking apart in midair. Four of the six passengers died at the scene.
After being taken to the hospital, the other two passed away from their wounds.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the devastating disaster.
According to his LinkedIn page, Escobar, who was recently appointed Global CEO of Rail Infrastructure at Siemens Mobility, brought 25 years of global expertise to the position.
He has managed businesses in Germany, Spain, South America, and the United States in the past. He was the CEO of Siemens Spain for two years prior to his most recent role.
When Siemens nominated Escobar, his predecessor Miguel Ángel López considered his accomplishments to be “key to Siemens’ success in the field of mobility and transport.”
Another important leader was his wife, Merce Camprubi Montal. She spent seven years in Barcelona as a worldwide commercialization manager for Siemens Energy, according to the New York Post.
Family members described the three children, who were all believed to be middle school age or younger, as happy and close.
Juan Ignacio Diaz, a longtime friend and former Siemens employee, said, “He was such a great person – kind, steady, and always there when you needed him.””He was a reliable friend who was there for you no matter what.”
Diaz remembered how Escobar juggled a rigorous work schedule with an unwavering commitment to his family.
Regardless of the difficulty of the situation, he always remained calm. He had a way of making folks feel good even when they weren’t,” Diaz said. And he never lost sight of his family, who came first.
Diaz added that he was totally committed to his wife and kids.He was an all-around great father who was also entertaining and compassionate. We will miss him and his family. I love you, friend.
International attention has been drawn to the tragedy, and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez expressed his sympathies for the family’s loss in a touching letter that was posted on X.
“Today, we learned of the tragic helicopter crash in the Hudson River,” Sánchez wrote.”Three children were among the five Spaniards from the same family who perished along with the pilot.”
“A tragedy beyond comprehension.” “I sympathize with the loved ones of the victims during this terrible time,” he added.
All those impacted by this tragedy are in our thoughts.
