For some reason, Elijah Vue’s absence has never felt quite right.
A child who disappears in the dead of winter, an apartment full of unanswered questions, and months of searching without finding a boy’s sign—until now.
After the amicable finding of human remains in the woods area dominated discourse and mistrust, the neighborhood is in desperate need of explanations.
The Two Rivers Police Department has confirmed that the remains found at the beginning of this month belong to three-year-old Elijah Vue, who has been missing since February. At this time, Elijah’s stepfather and mother are both under suspicion.
Authorities announced Friday that the human remains discovered last week belong to Elijah Vue, a child who went missing in Wisconsin in February.
The identities of the remains have not yet been confirmed, according to the police offices of both rivers. The head and bones were discovered at a private home on September 7.
“This is not the outcome we were hoping for,” said Police Chief Benjamin Meinnert. “Our families and community are destroyed.”
It was forbidden for reporters to interrogate Meinnert’s leader.
What we currently understand
The bones were found by a deer hunter preparing his country for the shooting season. While clearing the area, he discovered skeletal remains in two Wisconsin rivers on his land and immediately alerted the authorities.
At first, the Manitowoc district sheriff’s office stated that they couldn’t identify the remains and that it would take time. The remains were buried in a densely forested area just a few kilometers from the spot where Elijah was last seen on February 20. Over the last seven months, the authorities have conducted numerous searches in this area but have not been able to find anything.

Throughout the investigation, she restored a range of evidence, including red-and-white plaid blankets and automobiles. Although they had planned to investigate in the following weeks, the discovery of Eliáš’s remains has caused the case’s focus to shift.
Meinnert urged everyone to respect the family’s right to privacy while they are grieving.
“I never had the opportunity to meet Elijah, but I witnessed how this incredible community rallied around him,” he said. The public and local businesses that helped during this difficult time have my sincere gratitude.
Details regarding Elijah’s disappearance
Elijah was first informed that his mother, Jesse Vang, had disappeared on February 20. Vang, 39, told the police that Elijah last saw him at about 8 a.m., when he used prayer and making the child stand by the bed as a kind of punishment. When Vang woke up almost three hours later, Elijah was gone.
Around 11:00, Vang called 911 to report that their apartment had been lost.

Elijah’s mother, Katrina Baur, lived in Wisconsin at the time, more than a hundred miles away.
Baur and Vang were arrested in February on suspicion of neglecting a child in connection with Elijah’s disappearance. Baur’s and Vang’s preliminary hearings are scheduled for October 22 and September 27, respectively. Their lawyers said nothing about the matter.
There is presently a “Death Investigation” under progress.
When Elijah’s remains were discovered, the case moved on to the death inquiry.
“We acknowledge that the community is looking for answers, but we have to withhold some information to maintain the integrity of the investigation,” Meinnert said. Even though it will take time, we are dedicated to revealing the truth.

The officials encourage anyone with information to contact the police departments in both rivers.
Officials from the Wisconsin Ministry of Criminal Justice and the Office of the District Prosecutor Manitowoc will update the public on the investigation’s developments.
To sum up
A devastating step in the case that profoundly affected Elijah Vue’s family and the community at large was the confirmation of his remains. Even as the authorities continue their investigation, the pursuit of justice and the revelation of all the details surrounding its abduction have taken precedence. While law enforcement works to provide answers, they ask the public to respect the family’s privacy at this difficult time.
Through continuous legal management and a commitment to sharing all information, officials promise to keep the community informed of any new developments. To ensure that Elijah’s tale is heard and justice is served, we cordially ask anybody with information to attend.
