When washing clothes, don’t just put in detergent!

Machine-washed clothing frequently deteriorates quickly and rips from time to time. Because the mechanical power of any machine is significantly higher than that of hand washing, fabric wear is inevitable.

Overloading the machine accelerates damage. When there are too many clothes in the drum, they are squashed together. As the drum turns, the clothes tug and stretch against each other, increasing the risk of tearing.

Another frequent mistake is to pile clothes carelessly and without proper order. Clothing that has been carelessly thrown may twist together, making wear and tear more likely when the machine attempts to distribute it evenly.

One practical technique to reduce damage is to put two plastic water bottles in the washing machine. As the machine operates, the bottles rotate with the clothes to lessen fabric friction and prevent tangling and ripping.
