After losing his wife and 12-year-old daughter in the terrible American Airlines tragedy, a father has revealed what made him think something was wrong. A Black Hawk US Army helicopter and an American Airlines-operated PSA Airlines aircraft collided in midair on Wednesday, January 29, shortly before 9 p.m.
The incident happened at Ronald Reagan National Airport, which is in Washington, D.C., just before Flight 5342 was prepared to land.

The plane, carrying 60 passengers and four crew members, and the wreckage of the chopper plunged into the Potomac River. A “recovery” mission is underway, with 64 persons on board the commercial airplane and three people in the helicopter believed to have perished.
Among the dead are a man’s wife and his 12-year-old daughter, who had previously survived cancer.
Andy Beyer told ABC News that he had lost his wife, 42, and daughter, Brielle, after returning to the capital after attending the US Figure Skating National Development Camp. His daughter was born with cancer, and Beyer described her as “just such a fighter in everything she did.” She just lived each moment of life to the fullest.
His daughter was born with cancer, and Beyer described her as “just such a fighter in everything she did.” She just lived each moment of life to the fullest. She was pleased with her personal development as a figure skater. One of her life’s ambitions was to join the squad. She also succeeded. She was quite pleased with herself.
Beyer was picking up his wife, daughter, and their 6-year-old child from the airport when he realized something was amiss.
He asserted, “We couldn’t get text messages through and they hadn’t landed when the plane was supposed to land.” A friend who works as an air traffic controller confirmed the tale, and the sight of all the emergency personnel contributed to the panic.
“We had a good cry about it right then and there, and then we had to walk in with the family waiting room and everything before we got any official word of what had completely happened,” Beyer told ABC News, expressing a lack of optimism. To help the Beyer family through this difficult time, a “friend of the Beyer family” has started a GoFundMe page.
The website reported that 12-year-old Brielle and her beloved mother, Justyna, perished in the recent plane crash in Washington, DC, in a tragic coincidence. “We are requesting support from our community during this extremely difficult time, as their absence leaves an irreplaceable void in the hearts of family and friends.”
