The family is in sorrow for an 11-year-old child who lost his life due to a seriously dangerous social media trend. The family now wants to warn others and urge parents to talk to their children so that no one else might fall prey to the same thing.
A troubling trend among young people on TikTok led to the death of 11-year-old Tommie-Lee Billington of Lancaster, England.
According to The Sun, this comes after two teenage girls died while participating in the same “challenge” on the app.
It all started on Saturday while 11-year-old Tommie was at a friend’s house for a sleepover. The guys then “huffed” after discovering a challenge on the TikTok app.
This involves inhaling poisonous gases or intoxicating substances. Examples include glue, spray deodorant, and dry shampoo.
When the child and his friend decided to follow the TikTok trend, the boy’s heart immediately stopped. He died instantly, according to medical reports. The 11-year-old’s premature death is currently being mourned by the family.
His mother, Sherry, has suggested that other parents talk to their children and talk them out of using TikTok. She made an appeal on Facebook, writing, “This cost my son his life because he tried something other kids are doing.” Please talk to your children about the consequences of this. Why anyone would try this at all is beyond me! It’s quite dangerous!
