Travelers did not anticipate being serenaded by a true kid prodigy when they stopped at Manchester Airport yesterday for a quick coffee before their flights, but that is precisely what occurred. Eleven-year-old Harrison couldn’t resist settling down on the stool and beginning to play after spotting a grand piano outside Broderick’s Coffee Shop in Terminal 2.
Initially, no one gave it any thought.
They did not pay any attention to the young child as he sat down at the piano. Well, until he began to play.
Harrison’s small fingers touched the keyboard, and everyone turned to see.
For a child of his age, one might expect a charming performance of “Hot Cross Buns” or maybe a somewhat more elegant version of “Für Elise,” but Harrison had another idea for the audience.
He decided to perform “Nuvole Bianche” by the well-known Italian pianist Ludovico Einaudi. This is a far cry from the easy beginner piano tunes that most 11-year-olds are experimenting with. One of the most well-known classical composers of our day is Einaudi, who studied at Milan’s Conservatorio Verdi.
But Harrison’s passionate rendition of the Einaudi song was the best we’ve ever heard.
Most people need to devote the remainder of their lives to achieving that level of genius. But Harrison comes naturally. Throughout the concert, he didn’t even open the sheet music books that were in front of him. All he had to rely on was his innate musical sense and his recollections.
Everyone in the coffee shop immediately took notice since they couldn’t believe what they were seeing.
Several young guys of the same age stood up, their arms folded in surprise, while several others glanced over multiple times during the song, as if to check themselves.
The only word that springs to mind is wow. Harrison concluded with a resounding applause from the startled audience.
It’s rare to see an 11-year-old put up such a great show in the middle of an airport. However, the YouTube video of the incident demonstrates that it did occur. Harrison’s own channel features his humorous acts, such as this one that has almost eight million views!
There is no doubt that the little genius has a bright future in the music industry.
Given the amount of attention he is currently receiving at the age of eleven, we can only imagine how much better a few more years of practice will be. We wouldn’t be shocked if he started writing his own tunes soon after.
Harrison is one of the world’s top young pianists, so we’re eager to see what the future holds for him. At first glance, he appears to be just another child his age, but when you give him a piano and a stool to sit on, the outcome is amazing. His pride in his parents must be immense!
