Elementary school staff help get their beloved custodian a car

You don’t have to achieve great things to make a real difference in your community. Small actions often have a great impact and make people’s days.

As a custodian, Chris Jackson has always had a good impact at Unity Grove Elementary School. He is reliable and constantly eager to assist others.

But beneath his big smiles and cheerful manner, Jackson conceals his struggles and the challenges he encounters on a daily basis. Even transportation was challenging when he fell on hard times.

Even though owning a car would make commuting to work easier, he just couldn’t afford one.
“Bus transportation was available to us, but I was quicker than the bus. There would be a 45-hour addition. And I was only an hour away from my job. I can’t be stopped, for that reason,” Jackson told 11Alive.

During these trying circumstances, he did, in fact, continue to serve his community at Unity Grove.
He shows up, gets to work efficiently, and makes sure everything is in working order. Even on the days that were much more difficult, Jackson remained composed.

But I continued. I didn’t run away. I just stay. My pride was swallowed. “I just show up to work, smile, and be myself,” he told the news website.

The teachers and students appreciated Jackson’s work ethic and demeanor, and they were happy to have him in their school.

“He never fails to show up for work without a smile, and that has never happened. The children here adore him. Special Ed Teacher Jodi Combs told 11Alive that they love Mr. Chris Jackson and that “he just works so hard.”

Upon learning of Jackson’s struggles, the school immediately stepped in to provide assistance.
What would a school be, after all, without a community? A community also always looks out for one another.

“After finding out that Chris had fallen on some hard times, we banded together to help him with his immediate needs,” she added.

They may not be able to assist him with every problem, and we doubt Jackson would permit it, but they were able to change things.
Jackson already had enough money to purchase a car, but the school recognized that this was his most urgent need and chose to raise the remaining funds. In a Facebook video, Jackson was seen following a teacher across the parking lot. They told him that she needed help, and Jackson was ready to help as usual. This time, the help was for him alone.

When they reached a Chevrolet Impala, a model that Jackson considered his dream car, the instructor turned abruptly to Jackson and handed him the keys.
At first, Jackson was surprised. He stood there attempting to comprehend what had transpired. His teachers greeted him, showed him his perfect car, and described the duties of the crew.

“If you were in my body right now, I couldn’t move!” Jackson wrote in the Facebook post. I’m stuck. I’m at a loss.

Jackson took a moment to think about what had happened.
He got the much-needed respite at last. All of this is a result of the staff’s prompt repayment and the community he served.

It demonstrates that even though everyone has unique obstacles, a lot can be achieved when individuals collaborate.
