Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are currently embroiled in a contentious divorce.
While details on the former power couple are few, sources have provided the media with additional insight into the reasons behind their dissolved marriage.
An important voice in this story is that of Angelina Jolie’s childhood nanny, who claims that the actress is demonizing Brad Pitt and using his children as leverage in their ongoing battle. From Jolie’s point of view, her nanny Krisann Morel made a significant contribution to her life. She raised Jolie from an early age and grew close to her mother, Marcheline Bertrand, who tragically passed away from cancer, making her an important family member.
The public first learned about Morel in 2010 when Andrew Morton released an unofficial biography of Angelina Jolie.
Unlike many anonymous sources featured in Morton’s book, the nanny chose to reveal her identify, providing a unique glimpse into Jolie’s challenging upbringing. Her biography, filled with heartbreaking details, paints a dismal picture of the actress’s early years.
was an apartment renter.
The discontent started in 1976 when Jolie’s parents, Jon Voight and Marcheline Bertrand, separated. When Jolie’s father left when she was just six months old to become a young acting student, the household was in disarray.
Jon Voight was a terrible parent to her at the time. He cheated on her mother. Marcheline was “broken-hearted,” according to Susan Margaret, the mother of Jolie’s childhood pal, in an interview.
She said that Jon had emotionally abused her. She said he was fascinated by a Hollywood star. With everything going on, Angelina thought she would never be able to mature. The man continued, “She is highly antagonistic toward her father.
Bertrand then gave up her own acting ambitions to devote her attention to parenting Jolie and her older brother, James Haven Voight. With her mother and brother, Angelina grew up in a succession of rented apartments located all across New York City.
“Young Person in Peril”
We weren’t impoverished, but because I was an actor’s child, people assumed we were well off, according to Angelina in 2002.
However, the nanny for the family claimed that their financial issues were more pressing than other issues.
Bertrand was experiencing emotional problems with her little daughter, as Morel disclosed. The babysitter claimed that Jolie’s striking resemblance to her father made Bertrand almost sick to his stomach when he looked at her. Jolie’s mother placed her in a different apartment in their building for two years, where she was cared for by a rotating staff of caregivers, due to the severe conditions.
“In my opinion, Angie was a really lonely and troubled young person. In 2016, Morel told Daily Mail that even before she was born, her mother had started to worry that her husband Jon was having an affair with Stacey.
After being supposed to work for Jon’s production company, Angelina moved in with many nannies. Her mother, who lived three levels below Jolie, hardly ever saw her little daughter.
Every now and then the mother would come upstairs to sit with the nanny, sipping coffee and crying about her situation.
My heart just gave out. I take offense at it today. In Angelina: An Unauthorized Biography, Morel states, “I truly felt for that kid.”
Used as an Armament
Morel claims that Angelina and her brother James Haven were raised mostly by nannies and that they were often involved in their mother’s issues. Morel asserts that their father, a womanizer, frequently used Angelina as a weapon against him.
Marcheline was effective in creating hostility in both of Jon’s children by portraying him as a villain. But as Morel told Daily Mail, the outcome was years of heartache and wounds that remain open to this day.
After the contentious “Brangelina” marriage, Nanny Morel feared that Angelina may repeat her mother’s mistakes with Pitt. She brought highlighted the striking similarities between Angelina’s fragile situation now and her own challenging childhood at the moment Bertrand severed ties with Jon Voight.
“I want to tell her, please don’t take Brad away from the kids,” Morel said, voicing her worries. Don’t use the kids as a negotiating chip in your divorce. Conversely, avoid demonizing your partner. Because that’s exactly what your mother did to end her relationship with your father. As such, you had a lonely and troubled childhood. How come you would let your kids experience the same tragedy?
Present Situation

The couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have six children in total: three biological (Shiloh, Vivienne, and Knox) and three adoptive (Pax, Maddox, and Zahara). Since their widely publicized separation in 2016, the former Hollywood power couple has been embroiled in a bitter custody battle.
Over the years, there have been many highs and lows in the court procedures. Jolie initially had primary custody before Pitt was given joint custody in May 2021. However, once Pitt’s side was dropped from the case by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge John W. Ouderkirk, this ruling was ultimately overturned. His lack of transparency regarding his business relationships with Pitt’s legal staff prompted concerns about his objectivity.
As of right moment, Pitt is given “custodial time,” but Jolie has primary physical custody of their kids. It doesn’t appear like the matter has been settled yet.
In April of this year, Jolie filed documents with the Los Angeles Superior Court, claiming that she had been physically mistreated by Pitt. Pitt has strongly denied this claim.
One of their children, Vivienne, has reportedly made the decision to officially remove the “Pitt” from her last name, and her sister, Shiloh, intends to follow suit.
Zahara, 19, one of the couple’s three adopted daughters, seems to have taken to the name Zahara Jolie. Furthermore, sources close to TMZ claim that Maddox, 22, the eldest brother, does not use “Pitt” in his last name.
For Brad, this was more than just a name change—it signaled a deeper rift that had been developing between him and his children for some time. The actor’s relationships have apparently broken down badly for him; an insider tells Little Things, “Brad was devastated by this choice.”
The situation has gotten worse as his son Pax resurfaced a negative post about Pitt from 2020 Instagram.
According to reports, Pax wrote, “You have made the lives of those closest to me a constant hell” on his own Instagram account.
“You can lie to yourself and the outside world as long as you like, but the truth will come out eventually.”
He concluded by saying, “So Happy Father’s Day, you f*****g awful human being.”
An Earnest Request
The only child who has formally asked for a name change so far is Shiloh, but the general consensus appears to be very clear: all of the children appear to be supporting their mother in spite of their parents’ ongoing arguments.
Krisann Morel claims that Angelina is still coping with the fallout from her abandonment, which is affecting her life as well as the lives of her children.
“I don’t know Brad Pitt, but he seems like a good guy, and he looks exactly like Jon. This is a flawless duplicate of the past. Angie doesn’t know what constitutes a normal family. “Brad does; he came from one,” she stated in 2016.
“These kids are tired of being alone. Similar to what her mother did with her father, Angie is making an effort to end their connection. She is threatening to take away what little they do have—these kids travel so much that they don’t have any stability.
