Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have begun a new life in the United States. The fallout startled the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who broke away from the royal family many years ago. Harry and Meghan made several accusations and personal attacks against the royal family in their startling Oprah interview and book Spare. Among them were claims that they were doubting Archie’s skin tone before he was even born.
The royals’ relationship with the Sussexes is unquestionably at an all-time low. Apart from Harry’s attendance at King Charles’ coronation, there doesn’t appear to have been any alteration in their relationship with William, for example. In the middle of all of this, it is said that Charles did everything in his power to assist Meghan and that he was the only royal to contact both her and Harry after the Oprah appearance.
Regretfully, Meghan said that Charles had sent her a letter about her suicide attempt while she was a working royal. However, Meghan wasn’t pleased with the then-prince’s response, and there were speculations that it had a big influence on a crucial decision.
There is a long history between Harry and Meghan. The two began dating in 2016 after meeting at a tennis tournament in London, and love developed rapidly. Before they were married, though, a number of Meghan’s friends already believed she wouldn’t be happy with Harry.

In a 2019 ITV interview, Meghan revealed that some of her friends had even counseled her against getting married to Harry because of the expected media attention she would receive.
It’s difficult. I don’t think anyone could understand that. It’s difficult for me to comprehend, to be honest, but when I first met Harry, my friends in the US were overjoyed because I was happy, said Meghan.
My British pals agreed that he was handsome, but they said you shouldn’t go near him because “the British tabloids will destroy your life.” I truly foolishly did not comprehend as an American. It’s not easy.
“I never imagined this would be simple, but I did believe it would be fair, and that’s the part that’s extremely difficult to come to terms with,” the Duchess went on. “I’ve been telling H—that’s what I call [Harry]—that simply surviving something is insufficient,” she continued. That isn’t the reason we are here. You have to be prosperous and content.
I tried hard to accept the British sensibility of stiff upper lip. I promise that I really tried. But I think it causes a lot of internal damage,” she went on.
On May 19, 2018, Harry and Meghan tied the knot in a sumptuous ceremony at St. George’s Chapel.
At the moment, it was clear that Meghan had gained acceptance inside the royal family. especially King Charles, who, in spite of the Duchess’s father’s exclusion from the invitation, behaved so kindly toward her at the occasion.

According to royal biographer Robert Hardman, Charles enquired as to Meghan’s preference for him to walk her down the aisle. In Queen of Our Times: The Life of Elizabeth II, Hardman writes that Charles got a quick answer, but it wasn’t what he was expecting.
When Meghan offered to meet her halfway down the aisle, she truly caught the now-King off guard. She wanted to walk into the chapel by herself and make her big reveal.
In an attempt to step in, the Prince of Wales declared his love for his future daughter-in-law and said he would be happy to walk Meghan up the aisle and to the altar at St. George’s Chapel. Can we meet halfway? was the comment that one acquaintance stated he was not quite ready for. Hardman wrote.
This proved that the woman making the dramatic entrance was a confident and independent person rather than a blushing bride.
The BBC documentary Prince, Son, and Heir (2018) featured Harry discussing his father’s readiness to go with his bride on her wedding day. Harry initially said that he had spoken to his father about it, and Charles had immediately approved.
He responded as soon as I made it, saying, “Yes, of course, I’ll do whatever Meghan needs and I’m here to support you,” so I guess he anticipated my request. Harry recalled.

As our father, he will always be there for us, so for him, it’s an excellent opportunity to take the lead and provide that support.
Meghan Markle disclosed that a “unnamed royal” made a remark about Archie’s skin tone.
Few could have predicted on their wedding day that Harry and Meghan would begin verbally disparaging the royal family a year after they left.
Meghan claimed that during the now-famous Oprah Winfrey interview, she had been abused. She went so far as to claim that The Firm, as they call themselves, had not helped her when she was experiencing mental health problems.
Meanwhile, in her interview with Oprah, the Duchess revealed a number of shocking things, including how an unnamed royal made a comment about Archie’s skin tone.
About this same time, in the months I was pregnant. “There are discussions and concerns about how dark his skin might be when he is born, in addition to the conversation that he won’t be given security or a title,” Meghan Markle recalled.
As a working royal, Meghan felt she had to endure a lot of racism, sexism, and media criticism. Her mental state deteriorated, even though, as mentioned earlier, she felt abandoned by the royal family.
Meghan went through enough of it to consider suicide.
“I simply didn’t see how to get out of it.” I used to think, “I don’t understand how all of this is being produced,” while I sat awake at night. Once more, I wasn’t noticing it, but it’s almost harder when my mother or friends call me in tears or express it. You feel like, “Meg, they’re not protecting you.” Says she “And I understood that everything was taking place merely as a result of my breathing.”
Harry has suffered a great deal of heartache, so I was very embarrassed to have to tell him. Additionally, I felt really ashamed to say it at the time. But I knew that if I said nothing, I would take action. I just didn’t want to continue living. Meghan went on, “And that was a very real, very obvious, and very scary notion all the time.”
Meghan was not present when King Charles was crowned.
And I remember that all he did was hold me in his arms. I went to the facility and informed them that I needed to go seek help. I cried, “I’ve never felt this way before, and I need to go somewhere.” I was told that I couldn’t do it and that it wouldn’t be good for the institution.
The accusations made against the Sussexes caused their relationship with the royal family to quickly deteriorate, which infuriated a lot of members of The Firm.
As to the reports, Princess Eugenie is the only member of the royal family who visited Harry, Meghan, and their two children, Archie and Lilibet, in California. Harry and Meghan, meanwhile, have only occasionally returned to the UK; the Duchess has made one trip there, in 2022, to commemorate the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.
Whether Harry and Meghan would be invited to or even welcomed at King Charles’ coronation in Westminster Abbey in May was one of the main topics that sparked a lot of interest.
Even though the two had lost the faith of most of the royal family by then, the king would ultimately decide whether or not to welcome them.
In the end, Harry decided to go to the coronation of his father, while Meghan stayed in the US to look after Archie and Lilibet.
Harry’s attendance at the coronation may not have come as a major surprise. However, he left for the airport and returned to his spouse shortly after the nuptials. Rumor has it that several royals were happy Harry did not join them for the coronation feast.
If Meghan did show up, they even fantasized that she would sit far back in Westminster Abbey, away from the other members of the family.
After Meghan Markle’s Oprah appearance, she wrote Charles a letter.
As mentioned earlier, Meghan Markle stayed in the United States to take care of their two kids. Is there another reason why Meghan didn’t go to the UK with her husband, though, considering that her mother, Doria Ragland, is reputed to help her with the kids when things get busy?
There is, per an article in The Telegraph from April of last year. After the Oprah interview, Meghan decided to write a letter to Prince Charles to voice her concerns about unconscious bias.
It was also believed that Charles was the first senior royal relative to communicate with the Duchess after the Oprah interview.
The Telegraph article revealed new details, such as Meghan’s admission to Charles that her goal was to discuss unconscious prejudice rather than accuse the royal family of racism.
Meghan Markle was rumored to not attend the coronation. The Duchess had actually arrived up today because, according to rumors, she was angry that Charles had not addressed her concerns about unconscious bias in his letter.
Any reports of Meghan Markle’s coronation were refuted by her representative.
Later, a spokesman for Meghan denied the reports, describing them as “ridiculous.”
The Duchess of Sussex is not worrying about letters she got two years ago regarding conversations she had four years earlier; instead, she is embracing her life in the present. Anything to the contrary is completely ludicrous and untrue. “We encourage tabloid media and various royal correspondents to stop the exhausting circus that they alone are creating,” a spokesperson for Meghan told People Magazine.
In an interview with ITV early in 2023, Harry decided to address the topic of alleged racism among the royal family, stating that they did not feel they were.
“No,” was Harry’s response. “Did the British press say that? Meghan, have you ever said that “they’re racists”?
It is important to distinguish between racism and unconscious bias. You have the opportunity to grow and learn from your unconscious prejudice when it is acknowledged or brought to your attention as an individual rather than by an organization. He went on, “If not, racism is classified as unconscious bias.”
