Christmas is, for the majority of us, the most lovely time of year. The occasion serves as a reminder to cherish the people in our lives, especially our family and friends.
Unfortunately, for one family, the Christmas season turned into a source of conflict, leading to a mother giving her daughter a warning and maybe removing her from the party she was throwing.
The mother asked Reddit users if she was in the right or not after sharing her story.
The OP is also a grandmother because her oldest daughter is a single mother of a son.
She invited her daughter and her grandson to a Christmas dinner she will be giving as the holiday draws near. But later, there was something that became problematic.
The woman clarified that her grandson’s mother is cool with him not believing in Santa Claus as a real person. But since the woman’s young children do believe in Santa Claus, OP is now concerned that if her grandson brings up the subject of Santa Claus during the party’s evening, it would spoil the magic for her kids.
“I didn’t want the magic to be spoiled for them, so I asked my daughter if she would kindly talk to her son. I still leave cookies and reindeer food (bird seeds) out beneath the tree, along with parcels marked “from Santa.” The mom wrote, “My children are old enough to understand if her son decides to say something. My daughter told us she wouldn’t make her son lie.”
The daughter was horrified by her mother’s reaction and said that she was being utterly irrational and that she was prioritizing the happiness of her younger children over her own.
The woman claimed that because they both want to preserve magic, her husband is behind her.
She was surprised to see that the majority of redditors agreed that the original poster was incorrect as replies began to come in after her post.
