Keith Urban Says His ‘Life Is Very Different’ After Marrying Nicole Kidman and Becoming a Dad

Keith Urban is speaking up about how his wife Nicole Kidman gave him insight into what matters in life.

In a Wednesday interview, 54-year-old Urban discussed a wide range of subjects, such as his family life, his battle with addiction, and his changed priorities.

The country music artist went into treatment multiple times in his early career; the most recent occasion was shortly after he wed Kidman, 54, in 2006. For the musician, who during the interview quipped, “I’d like to stay married,” in response to a party invitation, their marriage was a significant turning point.

According to him, he once had a habit of weighing the consequences of everything he did before deciding whether it was worthwhile. Most of the time, he made this decision in spite of the issues it would raise.

He said, “I would think, ‘I know this is going to cause this issue, but it will be bloody fun,'” so to speak. It’s true—my nighttime self despises my daytime self. However, the me from that night is nowhere to be seen the following morning—he is completely unaccountable.

But these days, Urban’s main priorities are his children, Sunday, 13, and Faith, 11.

“Today’s life is radically different. “The Fighter” singer stated, “I’m attempting to provide a positive example for the children, but I’m not sure if I’m doing it correctly.

“I’ve made a lot of mistakes, but you have to figure out what suits you best.” “My message to them is to pursue their passions without hesitation; as long as they put in the necessary effort to succeed, I won’t mind,” he said. I put in a lot of work, and so did Nic. It was similar to paying dues twice for me. I gained a record deal by working my way up through the Australian clubs; however, after moving to the US, I had to start over from scratch.

Fortunately, he continued, “things worked out a second time.”

Similar to how she spoke with The Times last month, the “Cop Car” singer remarked, “I grew up in an alcoholic house because my dad was an alcoholic, and it took me a long time to believe I was wired the same.”

Since I enjoy it when my audience merely comes and has a nice time, I don’t talk about it much. I have no problem with booze or drugs. To have a nice time, everyone does what they want to do, the singer of “One Too Many” added. My allergy to it just dawned on me. “You have an allergy?” said someone. What occurs after a drink? I replied, “I break out in cuffs.”

In March, Kidman revealed on E!’s Live from the Red Carpet that Urban had flown to Los Angeles to be with her at the 2022 Oscars, where she was nominated on March 27 for her role in Being the Ricardos. This was after Urban had performed in a Las Vegas concert the day before.

“I’m absolutely overjoyed to be here. “I’m thrilled to be here with my spouse, who arrived at 1:00 a.m. after flying in to play in Vegas last night,” the Oscar winner remarked. “Anything that is necessary.”
