In late September 2017, Chip and Joanna Gaines’ immensely successful house restoration television program Fixer Upper was canceled. The show debuted in 2013.
The two announced that season 5 of Fixer Upper would be their final one in a post. We write with both sadness and anticipation that we will be sharing the news that season 5 will be our last episode.
We know this is the right decision for us, but it hasn’t always been easy to accept. We have grown up with your family, and we have sensed your support when watching television. How hard must it be to bid farewell to the very thing that first united us all?
Even though Chip and Joanna say they want to settle down and spend more time with their children, we don’t think they can keep up their adorable, traditional marriage.
They could be experiencing problems together, but they also have a lot of drama in their individual lives, which makes them prone to conflict. Here’s why we’re concerned about Chip and Joanna’s union and enterprise.

Claims are made against Chip for fraud.
Chip was accused of fraud in a lawsuit that KWTX got in April 2017. John L., one of his former business associates, brought the complaint. Leo and Richard L. Clark says Chip talked his partners out of selling their Magnolia Realty stock before he and Joanna announced they were getting a TV show.
In spite of their long-standing friendship, Chip Gaines is accused in the lawsuit of plotting to remove his business partners so that he would be the only one to benefit from Magnolia Realty’s affiliation with Fixer Upper.
According to the lawsuit, this occurred “when only the Defendants knew that Fixer Upper was about to drastically change their lives and business endeavors and had been fast-tracked for a one-hour premiere on HGTV.”
The complaint asks for non-financial compensation as well as monetary damages exceeding $1 million. It further claims that Chip intimidated Clark and Lewis via texts.
He refutes the accusations, nevertheless.

Chip angrily disputed that Lewis and Clark had gotten in touch with him regarding their Magnolia Realty shares prior to their lawsuit being launched against him. I have, incidentally, had the same email address and mobile phone number for twenty years and fifteen years, respectively. After four years, ‘friends’ get in touch with you through a lawsuit as no one answered your emails or calls. The user tweeted, “Hmm.”
“We are confident that these claims will be found to be meritless,” Chip told Fox News, citing his legal representation. Observing attempts to profit off Chip and Joanna Gaines’ success and labor of love is disheartening.
But the lawyer for Lewis and Clark is quoted by Radar Online as adding, “They did contact him.” After Chip gave it to his lawyer, there were conversations amongst lawyers. There is a four-year statute of limitations in Texas for these accusations. If the case wasn’t filed, it was lost.
The lawyer stated, “We’ve tried to settle it as soon as possible.” To make a transaction, though, requires the presence of both sides. Since they don’t appear to be eager to sit down and discuss, we’ll file a lawsuit, hold a trial, take it to court, and let the judge make the decision.
They were accused of being homophobic.

Chip and Joanna visit the Antioch Community Church, a contentious facility for LGBT conversion treatment that is adamantly against same-sex partnerships. The report pointed out that same-sex couples were never featured on Fixer Upper, unlike House Hunters or The Property Brothers. The pair and the show faced a flurry of criticism after the piece.
HGTV claimed in a statement to BuzzFeed that company does not discriminate against LGBT people in any of its shows, in reaction to the accusations of homophobia. HGTV is proud to feature people from a wide range of backgrounds in many of its episodes.
Prior to giving his thoughts, Chip supported the BuzzFeed writer and the editor of Cosmopolitan, who had obtained the material from conservatives who had threatened the reporters when it went viral. Chip asked people to respect @ginamei and @KateAurthur in a tweet, saying that it doesn’t matter if we decide to speak up against this absurdity or not.
but turned it down.

Chip posted on his blog in response to the BuzzFeed report, saying, “I can’t recall humanity being more split in my lifetime.” Many people are depressed, afraid, or angry, and we hear soundbites that appear to be motivated by fear, anger, or even condemnation.
Jo and I won’t be coerced into using our influence in a way that exacerbates global suffering because here is our home. A split family is unsustainable.
We must learn to love and appreciate those who are different from us if there is any opportunity for us all to progress, heal, and evolve.
“Joanna and I have personal convictions,” he said. Among them is the simple fact that you are our neighbor on Earth and a human being, which makes us concerned about you. We already support you, regardless of your skin tone, financial situation, political beliefs, sexual orientation, gender identity, country, or place of worship.
Jo and I both aspire to lead fearless and resilient lives for you as well as for ourselves. However, words have a tendency of stinging deeply, and nothing stings more than when someone interprets your meaning incorrectly. If I misunderstand someone and end up being incorrect, I want to be mistaken because my intentions were good. In the end, I would choose to be kind rather than precise.
To date, Joanna’s opinions toward homosexuality have remained unseen.
Regarding having more kids, they don’t agree.
Their divergent views on how families ought to develop are another factor that could lead to Joanna and Chip’s divorce, or at the very least, discord in their union. Their sons are Duke and Drake, and their daughters are Ella and Emmie Kay.
“I’m trying to talk him into another child,” Joanna remarked in October 2016 at an AOL Build Series speech.
Joanna said, “I would love another baby—or twins!—in June 2017.” “Can you have another baby, mom?” is a common question my kids ask me. But Chip believes we’re done.
The author went on, “Daughter Emmie never really wanted a younger sibling, but now she’s like, “Okay.” “I want to have a sibling.” That could consequently be a sign, in my opinion.
Chip chuckled, “I think that’s a sign that Emmie has gone crazy.” “.
Chip appears in their last farewell to Fixer Upper video, looking as friendly and cheerful as ever. Joanna always seems a little uncomfortable, as if she’s about to cry or can’t stop rolling her eyes.
He kept smiling the entire time the video was playing. Even though they are sitting close to each other and holding hands, notice how they are seated. Experts in body language interpret that if Joanna’s legs are turned away from Chip, it indicates that she is retreating and not interested in him.
