You may have noticed the absence of a familiar face if you’ve recently tuned in to Good Morning America. Since October 26, Michael Strahan has not appeared on the GMA set, and the morning show has announced that he will not be appearing on the show for the rest of this week.
The 51-year-old former NFL player is conspicuously missing from his commentator role on Fox NFL Sunday as well. He has previously taken brief leaves of absence from GMA to attend to other commitments.
World News Tonight anchor Linsey Davis and co-anchor of Nightline Juju Chang have been filling in for Strahan on GMA during his absence.
Coworker Curt Menefee noted Strahan’s absence on Fox NFL Sunday on Sunday, stating that he was “handling a personal family matter.”
In response, an ABC representative told People on Tuesday that Michael Strahan would not be joining us this week due to personal family circumstances. We value the opinions and worries of everyone.
As of October 25, Strahan has not shared anything on Instagram and had not made his reasons for being away from the public known. A representative for the network and colleagues said, “Michael, you and your family are in our prayers.” They also conveyed their support. When you go back to TV, we’ll be here for you.
